AI Alt Text for Images

See our step-by-step guide on how to automatically generate Alt text for images used in social media content across the Composer and Asset Library areas in Orlo, and help make your content accessible.

Things to consider ✅

  • To add AI-generated ALT text in the Asset Library, users must have the 'Manage Content Library' permission enabled in the user or company teams settings area.

  • Users can turn on the 'Make Alt text Mandatory' permission in the 'Publish Settings' area in Orlo. This will make sure that all users add Alt Text to images before publishing content in Orlo.

Benefits 🙌

  • Alt text ensures that all assets are available to all members of the community, including those with visual impairments.

Adding AI-generated Alt Text in the Composer

1) Navigate to the ‘Compose Post’ button in the top right-hand corner to open the composer tab.

2) Select the accounts you wish to post content to by clicking on the account dropdown menu.

3) Add media by clicking on either the ‘paperclip’ or ‘+’ icons.

4) Select your images (this example uses the Orlo Asset Library). Click ‘View/Edit Selected’ and then ‘Upload’.

5) Add Alt text by clicking the ‘three dots’ icon on the image and selecting ‘Add Alt Text’.

6) Generate the Alt text by clicking the ‘Generate Alt Text’ button. Once the text appears, click ‘Add Alt Text’ to apply it to your image. You can verify the text by hovering over the bottom left-hand corner of the image.

Adding AI-generated Alt Text in the Asset Library

1) Navigate to the ‘Marketing’ dropdown menu and select ‘Asset Library’.

2) Select your chosen asset by navigating through the library folders. Open the Alt text area by clicking the ‘pen’ (edit) icon.

3) Click ‘Generate AI Alt Text’ and then select ‘Save’. When these images are pulled from the Asset Library into the composer, the Alt text will automatically be included.
