Have oversight and control of your social media posts with Orlo's post-approval functionality. This guide explains how to utilise the different approval options for social media content to suit your team's needs.
Things to consider ✅
- Admins will need to disable the 'Post Unvalidated' permission on social accounts for users that need all content approving
- Admins will need to enable the 'Validate Accounts' permission in order to approve people's replies
- Admins can enable email notifications, which will alert them whenever a post needs to be approved. For instructions on how to set this up, take a look at our help guide on enabling notifications.
- If a post that needs approval has passed the scheduled date, this can still be approved but will go out instantly on the native networks
Adding the approval permission for users:
1) Navigate to the menu in the top right-hand corner ➡️ Click 'Settings' ➡️ Click 'Manage Users' ➡️ Permissions ➡️ Disable 'Post Unvalidated.'
Manually selecting a post to be approved:
1) Some users may be able to post without the need for validation, however, in some cases, they may want a specific post approved. Users can do this when in the compose post area of Orlo by clicking on the 'Request Post Approval' button in the bottom left-hand corner.
How to approve a post:
1) Navigate to the 'Manage' dropdown in the top left-hand corner ➡️ Click the 'Approve Posts' button
2) Once you have reviewed the content, you can click on the 'Disapprove Post' button to disapprove content or click on the 'Approve Post' button to approve content.
3) As well as approving/ disapproving posts admins in this area can do the following:
- Edit content in the approval - This feature allows for minor adjustments to be made directly to the content before approval, streamlining the process and eliminating the need to return the content to the original content creator for revisions.
- Add notes to content and @ mention users to be notified about any notes to make amendments.
- Disapproval reasons - When disapproving content, admins can add notes for amendments if this needs to go back to the user. The user can then resubmit their content for approval again after any changes have been made.
- Filter content - Filter by 'Users', 'Campaigns', and 'Overdue Social Content' to quickly find the post you need to approve.
- Disapproval tags - Dissaproval tags can be set up in the Publish Settings area and used for analysis. Admins can tag content with the disapproval tag e.g. 'Spelling', and then be used in the Dissaproval Report to see how many pieces of content have that tag.
- Bulk Approve Content - You can select multiple pieces of content by selecting the 'Shift' key, clicking on the posts, then selecting 'Approve' or 'Disapprove'
Benefits 🙌
- Increased accuracy - Social media posts can be checked for any errors and see if content follows your organisation's tone of voice
- Peace of mind - Applying the additional layer of approval can be great for sensitive content helping to minimise any reputational risk
Recommendation 💡
Top tip - If you have multiple users who need their content approved, you can use the Teams Permissions functionality to group users, helping to save time on manually assigning permissions to each user.
