Learn how to boost organic Facebook and LinkedIn posts in Orlo to reach specific audiences. This guide shows you how to add paid spend to organic social media content without running full Ads
Things to consider ✅
- To use the Boosting feature, you will need to link both your Facebook Ad and LinkedIn Ad accounts to Orlo. You can easily connect these accounts in the 'Account Settings' section.
- Boosting is only available for Facebook and LinkedIn in Orlo. To boost other posts on your other social media channels, you will have to do this natively.
How to access boosting:
1) Navigate to the 'Marketing' dropdown ➡️ Select the 'Boosting' option.
Once you are in the Boosting area you will see the overview page which has details of all your Live, Scheduled, Paused and Completed boosted posts along with any boosted metrics for Facebook and LinkedIn.
Setting up a target audience:
2) The first thing you will want to do is to create your audiences for the people you want to target your boosted content to. To do this click on 'My Saved Audiences' on the right-hand side ➡️ Select 'Create New Audience'
You will then need to select the Add account you want to create the audience for from the 'Account' drop-down and name your target audience in the 'Audience Name' box.
You can choose from a range of filters either including or excluding options. Please see an example of an audience segment below. This particular example targets 18 to 31-year-olds in Malvern.
For Facebook, this will also give you an estimated size of the audience that you may be able to reach in that group of people.
You can set up multiple audiences and manage these in the 'My Saved Audiences' area. You can click on the 🗑️ icon to delete audiences and the 📎 icon to edit them.
Boosting Posts from your Top Organic Content:
3) For an easy way to boost posts that are performing well, you can access the 'My Top Organic Posts' tab to see your best-performing content to put some boost spend behind them. Other reasons for boosting may be useful for:
- Campaign content that is related to certain demographics
- Recruitment content for jobs
- Promotional posts relating to certain locations
To boost one of your top organic posts, click on the three dots and select the Boosting icon (). This will take you to the area where you can add your Ad name and audience.
You can then add your budget for the Ad where you can set the following:
- Daily Budget
- Total Budget
- Bid Type - This will be CPM
- Bid Amount
- Start Date - Adding an end date is optional
- Language
To start the Ad click 'Boost Post' after filling in the above options.
Boosting Posts from the Content Calendar:
4) If you don't want to use your top organic posts, you can also Boost specific content within the Content Calendar.
To do this, navigate to the 'Marketing' dropdown and select the 'Content Calendar' option.
Once you are in the Content Calendar, locate the post you wish to Boost ➡️ Click on the post ➡️ Select the 'Boost Post' icon. If you are struggling to locate the post, try the keyword filter in the filtering option.
This will take you to the Boosting page where you can create your Ad by following the same process in the instructions above.
You can view any stats from the Ad in both the Boosting Area by clicking on the post in the Content Calendar and in the Boosting section.
