Creating an X thread

Learn how to create X (Twitter) threads directly within Orlo's Content Calendar. This guide explains how to add X threads for longer social media posts that require more information.

Benefits 🙌

  • Spread out information - Threads allow you to section your content into digestible chunks if a post requires lots of information making it easier for the end user to read and understand
  • Increase engagement - Utilise threads to add relevant information to your post to keep people engaged with your content increasing the time spent on your posts

You can create X threads in two ways. The first method involves using the first comment scheduling feature found in the composer area. This feature enables you to create and schedule both your main post and the initial thread together.

The second method involves using the content calendar. After your initial post and first comment are published, you can easily add additional threads to your post.

Adding a thread through the first comment feature:

1) Navigate to the 'Compose Post ✒️' icon in the top right-hand corner to load the composer.

2) Select the X accounts that you want to post to by clicking on the  'Select Accounts' button.

3) Once you have added any text or media and tagged your campaigns, to add a first comment, toggle on the 'Share First Comment' option ➡️ Add your text for the first thread.

4) Now you are done with editing your post, all that is left to do is to click on the 'Schedule Post' or 'Post Live'  option in the bottom right-hand corner!

Adding an X thread in the content calendar:

1) Navigate to the 'Marketing' drop-down ➡️ Select 'Content Calendar'

2) Locate your X post in the Content Calendar and select the '+ Add to Thread' Button. This will take you to the thread builder page.

3) Select the '+ Add to Thread' button located beneath your original post, which will open the composer tab. Here, you can create your thread using the standard process by adding text, and media, and tagging your thread to a campaign. You have the option to either publish your thread in real-time or schedule it for a later date.

Note: To add any additional threads to your post, the original post has to be live before you can add any further threads in the content calendar option.
