Learn how to filter your Insights Reports to gain more specific and relevant results. This guide goes through adding filters and the types of filters you can use.
Things to consider ✅
- Users will need the 'View Insights' permission enabled in the 'User Settings' area to access Insights.
- Filters can be utilised on template reports, personal reports, and custom widgets. To keep any filters on template reports, users will need to save the template report in the My Reports area.

How to Filter Insights Reports
1) Navigate to the 'My Reports' button on the Insights dropdown.
2) Choose the report you want to access. You can apply filters on template reports, your reports and custom widgets.
3) Select the 'Filters' button in the top right-hand corner, select the filters you want to apply and click 'Apply Filters'
Once the filters have been applied, they will be visible at the top of your report.
Available Filtering Options.
Time-Based:
- Listening Period: Analyse data within specific date ranges.
Source-Based:
- Network and Sources: Focus on specific social media channels or press and media outlets.
- Inbox Accounts: View data related to your organisation's social media accounts.
- Saved Streams: Analyse data from your pre-defined listening streams (excluding direct mentions).
Content-Based:
- Visibility: Distinguish between public and private messages.
- Sentiment: Analyse results based on positive, negative, or neutral sentiment.
- Emotion: Filter for specific emotions expressed in the data.
- Language: Focus on conversations in particular languages.
- Tags: Analyse data based on applied message tags.
Demographic/Profile-Based (where applicable):
- Industries (X): Filter mentions related to specific industries.
- Gender: Analyse data based on the author's profile information (Male, Female, Organisation).
- Interests (X): Filter discussions based on user interests identified within the stream.
- Age: Segment data by different age groups.
- Location: Narrow down results by country and city.
- Author: Focus on specific user handles or names.
