Insights: Automated Theme Alerts

This guide explains how to utilise Orlo's Theme Alert functionality to create automated alerts for emerging themes within your listening streams and inbox messages, enabling you to quickly identify and respond to emerging topics.

Things to consider ✅

  • Users will need the 'View Insights' permission enabled in the 'User Settings' area to access Insights.

  • Only one theme alert needs to be set up for your Inbox Messages and Insights Streams

Benefits 🙌

  • Early Detection of Emerging Trends and Issues - Identify new and developing themes within your data, allowing you to spot potential trends or crises before they escalate. This proactive approach enables timely intervention and strategic responses
  • Customisable Alert Settings- tailor your theme alert thresholds and choose whether the alerts apply to your insights data, inbox messages, or both, ensuring you receive the specific theme notifications that matter most to you.

Definition of Theme Alerts in Orlo Insights?

Orlo's Theme Alerts are an AI-powered feature that automatically detects and notifies you about significant increases (spikes) in specific themes within your social media listening data and inbox messages. Instead of just tracking keywords, it identifies emerging patterns and related discussions, alerting you to sudden surges in relevant conversations so you can quickly understand and respond to developing trends or potential issues.

Setting up Theme Alerts

1) Navigate to the 'Insights' dropdown and select the 'Theme Alerts' option.

2) You can customise your theme alert options in the following ways:

  • Accounts - By your Social Media channels for inbound messages on those accounts
  • Streams - By your listening streams for non-direct mentions across social media and media monitoring sources
  • Theme Window Hours - This sets the window of time that Orlo will use to detect emerging themes. This can be a minimum of one hour and a maximum of 24.
  • Theme Memory Hours - This controls how long Orlo will remember a detected theme, to avoid repeating alerts. This can be a minimum of 168 hours (7 Days) and a maximum of 720 hours (30 days)
  • Theme Alert Threshold - This tells Orlo how many results must be detected before alerting you, with a minimum setting of 10
  • Notification Email Addresses - The emails to alert to a new theme being detected. This can be multiple, comma-separated email addresses if needed.

3) To edit your theme alert, click on the dropdown options and click 'Save Changes'.

4) Users can delete Theme Alerts by clicking on the 'Delete Alert' button.

If any alerts are detected within the data set, emails will be sent to email addresses that have been added to the theme alert.

Viewing Theme Alerts

1) Any detected themes will appear in the Theme Alerts under 'Detected Themes'. Themes will be grouped, and users will be able to see the following about the theme:

  • Heading of the theme detected
  • When the theme was first detected
  • Number of results in the theme when first detected
  • When the most recent result in the theme was seen
  • Number of results last seen

2) To view the results in a theme, users can click on the title of the theme. This will show you the results in the cluster of the theme alert.

3) By clicking on the three-dot icon on the result, users can choose from the following options for a result:

  • Assign a post to another user
  • Tag a post with a Message Tag (these can be set up in the Inbox Settings area)
  • View the results in the native platform
  • Amend the Sentiment
  • Amend the Emotion
  • Delete the result from your Insights Report
