Publish Settings

In the company settings section, the publishing settings area enables you to edit publishing features. This guide will walk you through the available options, allowing you to tailor your publishing preferences to suit your needs!

Things to consider ✅

  • Disabling link tracking will stop any link click data from being tracked and recorded in the analytics area of Orlo

❌  ALT text is not supported on Instagram or Nextdoor through the API

How to access Publish Settings

  • Navigate to the menu in the top right-hand corner ➡️ Click 'Settings' ➡️ Click 'Publish Settings'

Areas in publish settings:

UTM Tracking

  • This can be enabled/ disabled for links that are used in your social media content

Benefits 🙌

  • Useful for link click data that are linked to campaigns
  • Install UTM codes into website analytics to track click-through rates

Link Shortening:

  • This can be enabled/ disabled for links that are used in your social media content

Benefits 🙌

  • Track how many times links have been clicked by people on your social content
  • Great to understand if your content is working, such as content for encouraging people to sign up to pages

Media Uploads from the Content Library:

  • When enabled, this means users can only upload media that has been stored in Orlo's content library.

Benefits 🙌

  • Gives you control over what assets can be used for content. Giving admin users more control over what is used to be in line with social media guidelines for organisations
The content library is great for organising assets in one space that all users can see

Mandatory ALT Text for Social Media Posts:

  • When this option is enabled, it requires all posts to have ALT text added to any media that you add to your social media posts. If ALT text isn't added, an error will appear when clicking the publish post option in the composer

Benefits 🙌

  • ALT is essential for the accessibility of your content for visually impaired people who need to use screen readers
  • Social networks also use ALT text to increase the discoverability of your social media content

Installing a Vanity URL :

  • We automatically add an orlo.tech link shorter to your links when creating content in the composer, which can help to track link clicks in the analytics area. Customers can add their vanity URL by purchasing a domain. You can see how to do this in our custom vanity URL help guide

Recommendation 💡

  • Most customers will use Orlo's link shortener, however, some organisations will use it to display a link similar to their main domain to be in keep with their brand identity

Post tags and Dissaproval Tags:

Post tags - Tags can be created for your social media content to help with more granular analysis, which can be used to filter both the Marketing and Campaign Reports. To see more about the use of Post tags, take a look at our how to use post tags guide.

Disapproval Tags - You can create tags for content that has been disapproved in Orlo. This allows you to utilise the disapproval report to track how often content associated with a particular tag has been rejected. For further details on how to effectively use disapproval tags, please refer to our disapproval report guide.

  • Post Tags and Disapproval Tags can be created in the publish settings area to be used to tag for social media content. To add a new post tag, go to 'Publish Settings' ➡️ Enter Tag ➡️ Click '+ Add Tag'
  • You can also remove tags by clicking on the ❌ icon on the tag in the publish settings area
