This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to upload and store videos and images in Orlo's Asset Library for future social media posting and see best practices for organising your media.
Benefits 🙌
- Organisation - Store all your media for social media in one centralised place that all team members can access, rather than having multiple storage spaces where content can get lost
- Time-saving - Easily locate media when uploading a post in the composer area
- Brand management - Make sure users are using approved media assets that are stored in the asset library to ensure brand consistency
Things to consider ✅
- All users can view and use any media in the content library, but you can restrict who can upload media. To allow users to upload, edit or delete media from this area the 'Manage Content Library' permission will need to be enabled

2. Edit and Delete Content from the Asset Library
3. Add text copy associated with your media
4. Add ALT text to your images
How to upload media to the Asset Library:
1) Navigate to the 'Marketing' drop-down ➡️ Select 'Asset Library'
You have the option to create folders within the Asset Library, which is a great way to organise your content for users in your organisation, or you can upload images and videos without creating a folder.
To add an image or video to the Asset Library, click on the 'Add Files to Current Directory' ➡️ Select either 'Image' or 'Video' ➡️ Upload an image from your device.
To create a folder, click on the 'Create Folder in Current Directory' ➡️ Give your file a name ➡️ Click 'Create'. You can add folders within folders. To do this, make sure you are in the folder you want to add another folder to and repeat the steps.
Edit and Delete Assets from the Library:
2) Once you have uploaded your media to the Asset Library, you can edit or delete your media. To do this, click on the ✏️ icon and 🗑️ icon on the file.
Add text copy associated with your media:
3) In the Outbox, for content that may be used regularly or for campaigns where the text is already set for the social media post, you can add this as suggested post text in the Asset Library to be used when composing a post. The suggested text will auto-populate when you select the media from the Asset Library, helping to save time on typing the message out.
To add the suggested post text, click on the ✏️ icon and in the suggested post text box, add your text and click 'Save'.
When you upload the content to the composer, you can choose to include the suggested post text along with the image, or simply upload the image on its own without any accompanying text.
Add ALT text to your image:
4) Users can add ALT text to media in the Asset Library, which will auto-attach when you add this in the composer area. This is great for accessibility and making sure that ALT text is included in your post.
Top Tip!
You can improve accessibility further by enabling the 'Make ALT Text Mandatory' permission in the publish settings of Orlo, ensuring that all your posts include the necessary ALT text.
Content Expiry Options:
5) Not all media assets need to be stored forever, especially if they are only relevant for a limited time. This might apply to campaign materials or short-term initiatives. The content expiry feature in the Asset Library enables you to set a specific expiry date for these assets, ensuring that outdated media are automatically removed.
To add an expiry date, click on the ✏️ icon on the asset and in the expiry date area, choose a date using the calendar option ➡️ set a time using the clock option ➡️ Click 'Save'.
Media Guidance Options:
6) You can add media guidance options on content, which will load in the composer when the user adds the image or video. This is useful as a notes area if you need to add any prompts. This could be used for reminders, such as letting users know to add it to a particular campaign or to schedule for a certain date.
To add media guidance, click on the ✏️ icon on the asset and in the media guidance area, add any text in the text box option ➡️ Click 'Save'.
This is how it would display when uploading through the Asset Library option.
Moving media into folders:
7) If you have uploaded any media and need to move it into a folder, you can drag and drop the media into the folder you wish to store it in.
