This article covers the features and functionality of the Asset Library, our online media file storage
To access the Asset Library, click on the Marketing drop-down in the navigation bar and select Asset Library. This option is only available to those with permission to manage the Asset Library, so if you do not see the menu option and think you should be able to access it, please contact the person/s who manage Orlo at your organisation and they can update your permissions.
The Asset Library works like a simple file and folder storage, where you can upload images, videos and GIFs that can be used when creating content. In the composer when attaching media, a source option is our Asset Library from which users can pull in and attach anything that has previously been uploaded.
Besides being able to create folders to organise your assets, each asset also has it's own settings which can be updated at any time. Below is a description of each option available:
Filename - The name of the file as it appears in the Asset Library
Suggested Post Text - Any text here will pop up when the asset is attached to a post. The purpose of this is to suggest to the person using the asset that their post should either use or include the copy that has been associated. This can be useful if certain images always need to cite their source, or to speed up the posting process with assets that are used on a regular basis.
Alt Text - For images, you can preset the Alt Text so that when used, the person posting doesn't have to create a new description or copy/paste from another place they might have it saved.
Expire Asset - This option allows you to set a time and date at which point this asset can no longer be attached to posts and published. We will prevent users from posting out with an expired asset, as well as prevent the scheduling of a post that will fall after the asset is due to expire
Media Guidance - A less direct approach than the Suggested Post Text, Media Guidance will also appear when someone attaches the asset, but is used more as a way to give advice to the person publishing. This can be useful to use as a reminder that posts that include the selected asset should be tagged into a particular campaign, or not used on certain days.
