Facebook and Instagram Location Tagging

With the introduction of geo-tags to your Facebook and Instagram posts you’re able to reach audiences looking for content in a particular area. What’s more, geo-tags can also help boost your search ranking and post visibility.

Once you have selected either a Facebook or an Instagram account, you will see the icon to add a location to your post within the compose box:



Click this, then enter and search for a location. Once you've found one you're happy with, click it and then continue to post as normal.



Once published, your post should appear with a location associated, like this:


Please note:

Tagging a location on Facebook and Instagram isn't as straightforward as searching for a location you'd like and selecting it.

Meta's API's mean that we can only use locations that are associated with an existing Facebook page.

This means that when you search for a place, the results you are actually seeing are Facebook Pages that have that location set. When you pick one, the API takes the location from the page and applies it to your post.
