Link Prefix Customisation

When you are sharing a link via Orlo, by default it will automatically be shortened to our Vanity URL to save on character count and to allow us to track link clicks and apply UTM tracking for use with Google Analytics.

You can install your own Vanity URL which we will use instead of our own, but by default links share will look like this:

http://orlo.uk/XXXXX

The X's will be replaced with random alpha-numeric characters in both upper and lowercase, making them unique for tracking purpose.

You can customise the shortened link to add a few extra characters in as a call to action for your audience, to provide them with some insight as to where the link will send them. For example, you can change the link from looking like the above example to something like this:

http://orlo.uk/Test_Link_XXXXX

The extra random characters will still be present, but doing this allows you to reassure your audience that what they are clicking isn't a randomly shortened link to anywhere.

To do this, after you have entered a URL into the text area of the composer, it should be highlighted blue (to represent it as a URL). Hovering over it and clicking "Edit Link" will provide you with customisation options for that link (including the options to disable Link Shortening/Tracking and UTM Tracking should you need to):

Once you are happy with your customisation, click on the blue Save edit button and continue the posting process as normal.
